le supertren francais

As the traditional Easter weekend engineering mess beckons for Britains rail network, it seems an appropriate time to discuss trains. As the French manage to get their train to travel so fast it arrived before it had left, you'll be lucky to get a train that will arrive anywhere in Britain before next Thursday.

Whilst this article mentions the environmental benefits of replacing France's reliance on the roadfreight industry with more rail journeys, I seem to remember that this 357mph train was sucking 6000 volts more than a usual train to make it go so fast. That can hardly be good for the polar ice caps now can it.
